WHAT WE THINK
This great blog from the CEO of a small social support charity brings up many issues that are relevant to healthcare. The KCVS was previously dependent on statutory funding but decided it needed a radical new approach to keep up with equally radical change in society and the ensuing tough economic conditions. They were brave enough to risk looking beyond local authority funding and government priorities to look at “Support” in entirely new ways.
Their new approach is asset based and built on a learning culture. They work with all organisations interested in social action developing an impressive range of cross sector relationships.
The harsh reality is that health and social care sectors need to find new ways of providing what communities need. Money is in short supply. This could be limiting or it could be liberating as in the case of KCVS.
